Albany’s Junior League has taken on a big project that is full of heart
Focusing on women in poverty and food insecurity, the Junior League of Albany (JLA) has chosen to provide care packages each month to children at the Albany location of A Child’s Place. Each monthly package contains food for the child to take home, a book for the child to keep and other needed items, like mittens, socks, or jammies. In addition, the JLA has provided copies of the books for teacher classrooms, where they are reading the books, teaching about the healthy foods, and strengthening the home-school connection. These wonderful gifts not only help make school fun, they address needs experienced by some of the households experiencing food insecurity while better preparing children for success once they get to elementary school.
