MLK Day as a National Day of Service honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Unity House is NOT accepting volunteers on National Day of Service, Monday, January 18th.
Due to the pandemic and the conditions in the Capital Region, we are not able to receive volunteers to help cook, serve, sort clothing donations, or help out in our food pantry. We must maintain social distance as we work to create safe spaces for our staff and consumers who come to us in need.
We encourage those interested in serving to consider solo service activities such as, litter pick up in your neighborhood or favorite park. Set aside some grocery staples to drop off/get picked up by your local pantry, start a basket of toiletries for a local shelter, set aside items for your favorite animal shelter. There are lots of ways we can still help each other while staying apart.
Historically, wonderful volunteers have helped with tasks and projects across Unity House sites. We have considered them vital to our success and are grateful for the volunteers who are able to safely serve. We miss the ones who are on pause. We look forward to a day when we can safely work together.
