Rensselaer County Historical Society to collect needed school supplies at upcoming Back Deck Party
On Tuesday, August 13th the RCHS, which does so much good in our area, will be hosting their annual Deck Party. The theme is Woodstock Remembered since this historical upstate event is turning 50 this year.
The Deck Party is a fun evening in support of the important work the historical society does. The group will again collected needed school supplies. The collected supplies will go to children residing in Sojourner Place, Unity House’s shelter for victims of domestic violence. Needed items include:
-
- spiral and composition notebooks
- pens and pencils
- art supplies like new boxes of crayons, colored pencils, or markers
- two pocket folders
- Also handy: classroom supplies such as dry erase markers, Kleenex, and disinfecting wipes
You can contact the Historical Society about getting your ticket to a fun event, you can drop off an item at the event or earlier, and you can bring school supplies to Unity House’s Front Door at 2431 Sixth Ave. in Troy.
Many thanks to the RCHS for hosting a school supplies collection and for all they do to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Rensselaer County.
