Unity House Staff Address Topics
As a human services agency offering a broad array of services, Unity House has experts and advocates who can speak on a variety of topics. Staff have spoken to office groups, faith communities, small groups and others on a variety of topics. Issues include human trafficking, domestic violence, healthy relationships for teens, the options for mental health housing, poverty and food insecurity, living with HIV/AIDS, overcoming barriers to employment, child development and more.
Education, Awareness, and Empowerment
The goal of free speaking engagements is to educate people on topics they might benefit learning more about. Another goal is to create awareness about the issues Unity House can help with. On the topic of domestic abuse, for example, it’s key that victims and those who support them are aware of what services are on offer. When people see that resources that are available in their community, such as emergency shelter for victims of abuse, they are more likely to engage in services and leave an unsafe or abusive relationship. Trainings can be tailored to the audience and the group’s needs.
