Unity House’s Ambassadors, peer-to-peer mentors who perform outreach, will be marching in the Lansingburgh Memorial Day Parade. Wearing their signature Unity House green colors, the group will march with a Unity House banner and will walk in solidarity with veterans and their families from around the area.
The Memorial Day parade will be on Monday, May 30th and honors the paulmen and women who have served in the armed forces of our country. In 1996 the Lansingburgh Memorial Day Parade was restarted by the Veterans of Lansingburgh after a 19 year absence. This year’s parade, hosted by the Veterans of Lansingburgh, will mark the 20th year by the group. The Ambassadors, along with Unity House staff and volunteers, are proud to be a part of this event. The Parade is funded by local veterans’ organizations and donations from government and the general public.
The Grand Marshals of the parade are the O’Grady Brothers, with the Honorary Grand Marshal listed as RSM (Retired) Gord Romard. The Veteran of the Year, the Associate of the Year, and the Auxiliary of the Year will be announced after the parade.
By joining the parade, the Ambassadors march in solidarity with veterans and hope to bring awareness to resources that are available in the community for veterans and the sometimes unique issues they face. Unity House is dedicated to working in partnership with local organizations that focus on outreach and service to veterans. Many thanks to the Veterans of Lansingburgh for organizing the parade and welcoming the Unity House Ambassadors to what is sure to be a great day.
