Students, staff, and families at Watervliet Elementary collected 6 boxes of children’s pajamas for the Unity House Adopt a Child program. The pajamas- 126 pairs!- will go to Sojourner Place, Unity House’s shelter for children and parents fleeing domestic violence.
The collection was part of a joint effort between the national Pajama Program and Scholastic Book Fairs. Book Fairs are wonderful events that combine a child’s love of reading with learning and fundraising for the school. Scholastic helps spread the word about the need for children’s pajamas in shelters. From there, kids and families have an opportunity to get involved.
The children and families at Watervliet Elementary were very involved! Their efforts resulted in a collection of pajamas for both boys and girls in a variety of sizes and styles. Some of the pajamas have wonderful holiday designs. Really, there is nothing better than a new pair of jammies. As the Pajama Program claims, “good nights are good days.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Many thanks to the community at Watervliet Elementary for this generous donation.
