Brunch lauding Women of Troy a great time

Friday, March 8th marked International Women’s Day. It seemed no better day for a Women of Troy Brunch at downtown eatery, Nighthawks. The restaurant, which features amazing farm-to-table cuisine, hosted the brunch with Unity House’s Domestic Violence Services Program, whose walk-in offices are right across the street at 504 Broadway.

The brunch celebrated women of Troy and women everywhere, featuring influential local women speakers, a special brunch menu and cocktails designed by the women of Nighthawks. The event was also a chance to promote support for survivors of domestic violence. Unity House provides crisis intervention, information and referrals 24 hours a day via its Domestic Violence Hotline. Unity House DV Services also provides outreach services and information, as well as multiple domestic violence services such as case management, counseling, legal representation and much more to victims of domestic and dating abuse.

Among the speakers and attendees were Jinah Kim, Owner, Sunhee’s Farm & Kitchen; Mary Pat Donnelly, Rensselaer County District Attorney; Tandra LaGrone, Executive Director, In Our Own Voices; Milinda Reed, Esq., Director of Human Resources, General Counsel, Unity House; Caitlin Sive, Chef, Nighthawks Restaurant & Bar .
