Support for Survivors of Abusive Relationships
Capital Region Verizon teams and the amazing Communications Workers of America (CWA) are coming together to help raise awareness for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Working with local advocates at 2 Harts One Soul, they will collect new household items for survivors of domestic violence.
As Ashley Hart of 2 Harts One Soul points out, survivors are at their most powerful and their most vulnerable when they leave an abusive relationship. For this reason, a safety plan and supports are crucial. Having new items for your new living space- everything from fresh sheets to shampoo- gives pride of place and honors the inherent dignity in each person.
About 2 Harts One Soul
Ashley Hart’s advocacy on the topic of domestic violence and current role as head of Prevention Services at Unity House’s Domestic Violences Services Program, created 2 Harts One Soul in the wake of a devastating tragedy. Ashley’s sister, Nikki Lynn Hart, died at the hands of her abuser in 2012. In the aftermath, Ashley and her family dedicated themselves to honor her memory by helping others. In 2020 Ashley founded 2 Harts One Soul, working on movements that raise awareness, educate, and help victims become survivors. When she is not found in direct service or at work at Unity House, Ashley can be found at the Capitol advocating for needed funding.
