Unity House’s new community resource center, The Front Door, located at 2431 Sixth Avenue in Troy, will be powered in part by solar energy. The 27.5 kW solar photovoltaic array on the roof of the building will provide 31,566 kWh’s annually. This array will result in approximately $2,775 of energy cost savings annually (17.31% total savings per kWH) as well as a reduced carbon footprint for Unity House. Thanks to New York Light Energy- now known as US Light Energy, the work will have been completed in 3 weeks total time and Unity House expects to be using the power of the sun to help out with 26.36% of their energy needs, based on the viable square footage of roof space.  For more information on solar, seewww.newyorklightenergy.com
